Will Toronto council ask Ontario to change how mayoral candidates appear on the ballot by Mar. 31, 2027?
Currently 12% Yes. Closes March 31, 2027.
Chances
- Yes — 12%
- No — 88%
Rules
- Resolves Yes if, at a meeting held between Oct. 30, 2026 and 11:59 p.m. Toronto time on Mar. 31, 2027, Toronto City Council adopts a motion or report recommendation asking the Government of Ontario to change how mayoral candidates' names appear on the ballot, such as the order, the format or how candidates with the same surname are shown.
- Council minutes and decisions on the City of Toronto's official website (toronto.ca) decide the result, and a news report from a major outlet such as CBC or the Toronto Star can confirm it. A motion that only asks city staff or the City Clerk to change the ballot does not count. A motion that is only proposed, or that is defeated or deferred, does not count.
- If no such motion is adopted by the deadline, the market resolves No.
